Patsy Rose I am here today to voice my concern over the entering of Mr. Sean Kendalls property and the fatal shooting of his dog, Geist, by law enforcement. A you know, Geist was on Mr. Kendalls private property, the yard fenced and gated. As per the investigation, others observed Geist being agitated, obviously due to the commotion of all the police activity and strangers peering into HIS yard. With him being a potential problem, why werent other officers alerted of this? Do they not communicate with each other? Since this was a known, why wasnt animal control summoned? Thus, avoiding lethal force. So, Here are my concerns. 1. What does the Police Department propose to keep our pets safe on our own private property? 2. How do we, as property owners, protect our right of privacy, guaranteed by our U.S. Constitution? This is deeply concerning. We need to have protections in place for our pets and us. Theyre not things, or just property, but living creatures who are part of our families and loved. Whether you are an animal lover or not, this issue runs deeper than this incident. It is about Police abuse and impunity. Our homes are our safe havens. If we are not safe there, then WHERE? Colorado recently put protective lawson place for this very reason; Police killing our perts needlessly and getting away with it. Lets follow Colorados lead. Lets have new protective laws, policy changes and much needed training. Lets demand accountability from our police department. Tell me. Is that too much to ask??? Change has to begin somewhere and sometime. Let that change begin with you and lets make the time now. Thank you on my behalf and on be half of my dog. He doesnt have a voice, so I must speak for him.
