Pay demolition victims now •Accord Party pleads with Ajimobi The Accord Party in Oyo State has pleaded with the state government to pay compensation to those whose properties were demolished and to stop further demolition immediately. In a statement signed by its media director, Prince Dotun Oyelade, it said that in the wake of protests in Ogbomoso land by victims over the further extension of properties marked for demolition this week and the untold economic hardship faced by victims all over the state, prompt payment of compensation is not only imperative, but should also be seen as an emergency commitment by the government. According to the party, the government applying bureaucratic solution to a project that has exposed victims to death and squalor is ungodly. The party observed that “since the demolition started a year ago when shops and residences were destroyed with short notice or no notice at all, the Ajimobi administration has not paid anyone a kobo neither has it dispensed with the numerous litigations that arose as a result of the exercise. “To compound their plight, many victims whose houses were initially marked and have summon courage to renovate from the approved metre have had the renovated structures mowed down again because of shoddy government planning,” the release said. “It said in spite of these sufferings, the Oyo State government still went ahead spending billions of naira on flowers and plants.”
