Payday story of my own. My 1st payday after boot camp in GLakes - TopicsExpress

Payday story of my own. My 1st payday after boot camp in GLakes falls on a Friday (every sailors favorite). I receive a pay check made out to James E. Mitchell, the amount was correct and the SSN was mine but the name was wrong. Nobody would cash the damn thing. So I was forced to mope around until Monday and went to PSD to correct. They cashed the check, promised me that it would be corrected ASAP. So.....for the next 2 months I had to cash James check at PSD every pay day. One afternoon standing in line to cash this check an antique DKC, who had seen me every payday, asked me how come I didnt cash my checks at a bank or credit union. I shared my story. He yanked me out of line, took me to an inner office, had my pay records mustered up along with some junior sailors and few civilians and while I sat in a comfy chair he chewed asses and took names. Last time I ever had to cash an incorrect named check. However, every time I renew a DOD clearance I have to explain why I went by James for almost 3 months.
