Paying tribute to my very first teacher... A dedicated PUBLIC SCHOOL teacher who woke up at 4 am daily to fix our needs before commuting by bus to Makati at 5 am to get to school at 6 am. I never saw her absent herself from work. She introduced me to the world of lesson plans, examinations, grading sheets, proctoring and audio visual aids (having written on countless manila paper for her lessons)... Cutting out designs on numerous art papers for her bulletin board... Going with her on home visits for truant and problematic students. She was instrumental to opening my eyes to the ills of society at a very young age. I pay tribute to my Mama Merle Samadan and all other teachers who quietly, steadfastly and dedicatedly devoted their time and life to bettering young people. To all teachers... Mabuhay tayong lahat.
