Peace bringer Proverbs 17:1 (ERV) It is better to have nothing but a dry piece of bread to eat in peace than a whole house full of food with everyone arguing. Meditation A devoted father was once teaching his young son how to operate a lawn mower. The safety-conscious dad walked by his son?s side, reviewing procedures and precautions. Suddenly, the mother called to her husband from the porch. As he turned to answer her, the mower got away from the boy, cutting a swath two feet wide through a beautiful flower bed. As the father was loudly chewing out his son, the mother called to him again. This time she said, ?Remember John, we?re raising children, not flowers.? Anger is never passive. It?s a hot button emotional response that can be one of the greatest roadblocks to closeness in your family relationships. That?s why the Bible teaches, ?A gentle answer makes anger disappear, but a rough answer makes it grow.? (Proverbs 15:1 ERV). When your family member is disrespectful, show calm respect. When that person is loud, respond quietly. When he or she is irrational, react with cool rationality. As you do these things, you will be a peace bringer in your home and will bring glory to God. Prayer God, I?m so grateful for the consistent and correct instruction from Your Word. Allow me to quench my own anger with Your wisdom. Use me in my family. Amen.
