Pearl Izumi Tour Series Durham. Based on the hardest circuit of the series, with 24 laps including a 700m cobbled climb and steep cobbled descent, the team acquitted themselves excellently within a peloton made up largely of professional riders, including a number of international level riders, National and Olympic champions. As a guest team we were gridded on the back row, making a difficult task largely impossible, however all the riders gave 100% from the start. The race started flat out from the gun with groups scattered all over the circuit. Will somehow manoeuvred himself into the top 20 for the first 25mins of the race before a crash on the off-camber corner caused him to slip back. Will, Jack and Ben managed to complete the race within one of the many small groups of riders which is a great performance considering the course, gridding and overall level of competition. It was a great evening and a fantastic atmosphere with many people supporting the team which we are very thankful for. Our sponsors Skinnergate Cycles and Cafe de Colombia / Dean and John Reeve took care of everything on the night allowing the riders to concentrate wholly on the racing. The riders have all gelled as a team over the past few months and this was reflected in the atmosphere both pre and post race. Overall it was a fantastic experience for the team and one that will stand them in great stead for the Elite Circuit Series later this season and a potential full Tour Series attendance in 2015.
