People can be good in speaking if they speak fluently with others, understand what is being talked, can express their opinions, be confident in communicating, and the most important thing is that they have a good vocabulary, grammar, fluency, pronunciation and comprehension. Today speaking is very important because has many advantages. For example: by speaking we can have good relationship with the others in the world, the opportunity to have a high career, open a business or having international network, and be translators, etc. In the classroom the students who are good at speaking, they understand lessons given, can answer the question that is given, confident in class, have a good interaction with the teachers and friends, not afraid to speak in front of the class. SMPN one is one of the junior high schools in the town of Mataram. In which English is a compulsory subject and speaking is one very important aspect. Researcher was conducted when PPL got some shortcomings, there were many students who had difficulties in learning English especially in speaking. Most students find difficulty in it especially in grammar, fluency, pronunciation, vocabulary and comprehension. For example, in “grammar” they are not able to arrange the words into a good sentence, for example they want to say beautiful girl, but they said "girl beautiful", and " she goes to school", but they said she go to school. In “fluency” is very bad, they spoke very slowly and they are still going to think what they are talking about. In “pronunciation” they have not been able to say in a different language for example they want to say friend but they say prend, and they want to say seventh but they say sepen. In “ vocabularies” when the students talked with the teachers or friends, they did not know what was being discussed they always ask about the meanings of the words, and when speak English they often mix their English with their local language because they don’t know their meanings in English. In “comprehension” does not connect, they are not concentrated. This has caused the students not to be able to speak in the classroom because they are lack of practice. Many students are shy when they are standing in the classroom or they are not confident when they speak English and they rarely communicate, they only speak local language. This happens because of the way the teachers teach English in the classroom. The teachers teach English only the teacher is the center (teacher centers) which means the teachers teaching by writing or speaking. They do not make the students active, and they are not given the opportunity to speak English in the classroom. It will make the students bored to learn in the class, and it will make them sleepy. There are a variety of alternatives used in teaching English to make the students more active in learning activities in the classroom, and more confident, they will have equal opportunities and have plenty of opportunities. Such a method is called "the Everyone is Teacher Here (ETH) method". Mel silberman (2005: 181) says that "Everyone is Teacher Here" is an easy strategy for obtaining class-wide participation and individual accountability. It gives every participant the opportunity to act as a “teacher” for other participants. By using "everyone is teacher here method" the students will be more active and not afraid to speak because they will teach their friends, and also have l interaction with their friends and the teachers, and they will be easy to communicate with each other . Based on the explanation above the researcher raises “The effectiveness of using ETH method for teaching speaking at SMPN 1 Mataram”. The reason why the writer takes this method, because the writer assumes this method will be effective in learning how to speak and it will also be effective when it is applied to teach at SMPN, because this is the most active learning method. it will Also make the students easy to learn in the class and able to interact with the teachers or with their friends especially in the classroom . By using this method the students get the same opportunity to speak . They are more active and courageous to speak and the writer hopes the students will be more active and will make them easier to learn how to speak and speak to the class.
