People often misinterpret their ability to be effective. People often internally exaggerate their abilities. A lot of people believe they are great at things that in actuality they might only be average or good. Doctors are responsible for providing bed side manners in securing your mental health and physical health needs. Some doctors are excellent with their tools; however, they display poor communication skills and lack sensitivity which can be important in many health care settings. Counselors often attempt to lead people where they believe they should be, versus meet them where they are and collaborate in creating the appropriate direction of services. Businesses are often designed with brilliant business plans without competent, knowledgeable, service oriented individuals to carry out the day to day work. Many people believe they are good at communicating because few people are effective at constructively disagreeing and helping the other communicator improve or better relay the message. Few people know that labels conceal more than they reveal. Some of these people are presidents, executives, coaches and pastors, but just because a person holds one of those titles does not mean they completely embody the characteristics we attribute to the title. For example, you can be a successful executive but lack basic communication skills. You can be a pastor but lack the ability to forgive wrongdoing. You can be a winning coach but dont know how to be a good parent.
