People seem so obsessed with holding state power to account they are blinded to very real implementations of it that the right seem to champion. Are we fighting those or not?? Oh no, attack the left on its position (say re 18C). Its just the same as the rights see. Well no, its not. State power and engaging it has its place. Why? Well because it is there. I get people are anti-political. But creating your own politics around self righteous, near religious obsession to fighting the state is ludicrous and a denial of the reality with which we live and have our being. Universal values seem to mean what the individual declares them to be so why bother saying its not about identity?? Inane and a very self serving argument to make. Seems like those advocating for 18C to go ARE defending their own identities.
