People the world over are killed by the hostile self-righteous - TopicsExpress

People the world over are killed by the hostile self-righteous actions of others. My pal Al and I had a discussion about the the Israeli-Palestine ongoing issues of hostility, and the murders of the past week. We seem to disagree on the cause. I suppose my perspective sees it as an issue of hostile self-righteous actions by both sides. The cause of world conflict seems to stem from prejudice and greed. No one wants perpetual hostility except those that profit from it. The issues unresolved for Palestine and Israel are: Israeli security and Palestinian sovereignty and freedom. So whose demands are less legitimate? In my opinion, a solution to the hostility and unrest is obscure. While the Israelis have the force to control the region temporarily, there is no respect for their authority. With no lasting guarantee for Israeli national security, they must remain steadfast. It is too easy to say one side or the other is the cause or the continuation of conflict. Suffice to realize world opinion seems of no help for a resolution. It seems to me that might is right. But perhaps a moderation of hostility can be tempered by world opinion and political pressure. Killing is not a solution to resolving conflict. This I need to say again: No one wants perpetual hostility except those that profit from it. The article in the link below presents a fairly balanced perspective on the issue. gulfnews/opinions/columnists/for-palestinians-this-week-s-deaths-highlight-the-asymmetry-of-power-1.1355533#.U7WP3-w9Bcc.yahoomail
