People think that if you suffer from depression you automatically - TopicsExpress

People think that if you suffer from depression you automatically hate yourself, but that is not always the case. Mother Theresa was said to have suffered from the Dark Night of the Soul (deep depression) for most of her life, and it was the state of the world that was the cause of her depression. I am very much the same. I have accomplished great things in my life and I am proud of myself for earning two bachelors degrees, both with honors, while my peers were all earning one. I am proud of myself for being brave enough to create a multi-million dollar real estate investment company. That took SERIOUS balls and perseverance to do with no start-up capital and now, building businesses is like tying my shoes...easy and automatic. I am one of the few people I know who can say they are doing it all on their own with no help from friends or family, and no hope for help should a disaster arise. Ive been through enough disasters without anyone to know I can get through anything. I am proud of myself for being so strong. I am struggling with my health a little and therefore my finances a little, but other than that I wouldnt trade my life for anyones. I know how intelligent, wise, and capable I am, so my depression, much like Mother Theresas, comes from the outside world and what is happening in it...the behavior of people and society as a whole, and an uncertainty about the existence of God, because this truly is an evil world...or maybe its just humans that are evil. Take mankind away from this planet and it becomes a paradise. nytimes/2007/08/29/opinion/29martin.html?_r=0
