People throw around the word “epic” for everything. Their shoes are epic. Their haircut is epic. Their dog is epic. Their voice is epic. Abusers of the word “epic” may claim they are simply explaining how amazing something is by slapping the word “epic” after it. However, constantly exaggerating everything by calling it “epic,” has an inverse effect. Other slang words such as “swag” and “legit” are overused too, but the word “epic” is almost like the plague. If one person says something containing the dreaded word, “epic” the next person catches the “epic” bug and starts to say the word too. What does one get out of using the word “epic”? Does hyping up mundane activities of everyday life make it more interesting? Epic is to the 2000s what dude was to the 1990s. Using words like epic to describe how extremely impressed you are by everything has ruined the word. If everything is epic, nothing is epic. Not that Im suggesting this cookie-cutter language is cool, but it is nonetheless destined to die on the black particle board shelves at your local Hot Topic. Explore the wide world of words!
