People will say the most ignorant things in an effort to make themselves feel better about being lazy. When I have made social media posts suggesting the need for a greater emphasis on training in shelters, Ive even been met with negativity so out of touch with reality as to ask me if I would acknowledge that not all dogs need training which is absolutely absurd. A dog with no training acts instinctually and canine instincts when not controlled are inappropriate for the human world we ask our companion animals to live in. In my experience, even the most well tempered dog, left untrained, will eventually make a significant mistake; one which could have been avoided were training considered a fundamental part of owning a dog the way food, shelter and veterinary care are accepted as such.
