Peoria County Sheriffs Office --Roadways will become icy tonight as traffic lightens. if youre out, make sure you have at least 1/2 tank of gas, a charged cell phone with you (even an old phone you dont use anymore and its car charger will work to call 9-1-1 in the event of emergency), and extra clothing/blankets/gloves/hat/scarves/boots/etc in your vehicle. If you become stranded, stay IN your vehicle. And remember, stranded doesnt necessarily mean you ended up in the ditch, or you were involved in an accident; it could mean, youre stuck waiting for an accident to be cleared, or the roadway is impassable and you have to wait until the plow arrives. It is possible for you to have to wait in your vehicle for over an hour in these types of situations. Are you prepared? Nolan, Sarah
