Perhaps Ms. Kallin is guilty of watching too many courtroom dramas - TopicsExpress

Perhaps Ms. Kallin is guilty of watching too many courtroom dramas on television, and they influenced her judgement. Or maybe she was truly oblivious to the meaning of the song she was reciting the lyrics from. It is possible that her education was so narrowly focused on getting that law degree, that Kallin was never exposed to any books, or courses, that would have set off a warning bell when she was composing her closing argument. And it could just be that she likes the damn song. Oh I wish I was in the land of cotton. Good times not forgotten. Look away. Look away. Look away, Kallin said. And isnt that really what youve kind of been asked to do? Look away from the two eyewitnesses. Look away from the two victims. Look away from the nurse and her medical opinion. Look away. Look away. While this article makes no mention of the victims race, another source identifies the girls as being white, which would make the prosecutors closing remarks especially egregious. Because, as we all know, there is an ugly history in this country involving black men and the crime of rape. I dont know the merits of the charges in this case, but he was convicted of both counts and sentenced to 20 years in prison. The state is planning to retry him.
