Perhaps it is just me, but I think both the media and the New York City officials are going way overboard regarding the murder of the two policemen. Please do not misunderstand me; I am sorry that the two police officers were murdered, and I think they should be honored. yet I find it ironic that we make so much of police deaths within a department that itself seems to place so little value on the lives of the citizens it is sworn to serve and protect. It is all too common for minority teenagers to be snuffed out, and very often they are unarmed. Often they are stopped for little reason other than street checks, and situations escalate. Likewise, I find it incredible that states like my own, New Hampshire, save the death penalty for those murderers who kill police officers. So I guess the woman knifed to death in her rural New Hampshire home a few years ago by three crazy teenagers doesnt deserve the same justice as a police officer who is killed in the line of duty? I care about slain police officers, but we all should care about every person slain. Lets be honest and lets be real; no one is more important than anyone else Otherwise, it is only the peacekeepers who count, and the rest of us are on our own.
