Peru Adventure, Day 2, August 25. Antonio and I took a five hour - TopicsExpress

Peru Adventure, Day 2, August 25. Antonio and I took a five hour bus ride to the oasis in the Huacachina district of Ica. (If airplane seats were this comfortable and service this great in tourist class more people would fly). We were met at our hotel by our very charming local guide Fiorella. She took us to two local wineries. The first el cortijo(?) is 250 years old and still produces using 250 year old equipment. They have a festival in March which pretty much uses all the wine produced. The second winery is also 250 years old but specializes in making the distilled wine Pisco. Before the 2007 earthquake its hacienda was the oldest in the Americas. Now it may be the most imposing. The distillery is the largest in South America. I was impressed. I loved the taste of the several varieties of Pisco we tried and know that never again will it pass my lips. But then Antonio bought several bottle as presents for his future father in law and a sample pack that he says we will drink as we cross our highest passes over the next three months. I dont know about that but will report. (some photos will follow)
