Peter and I were evacuated at 7pm Thursday night as the Bow river exploded over the riverbanks faster than anyone thought. We actually just went back to our house to get some stuff and our house is ok as we are at a higher part of the community and not near the river. They have started to bring in dump trucks with dirt to build barricades around the entrance from Montgomery/Bowness Bridge as the river has come around into the Bowness community past Shouldice Park. Although we are able to return to our homes, it is advised by the city to not return until evacuation is over --- with that being said, we have returned back to my sister’s house as gas smell was strong and there is a possibility of power being shut off to avoid fires. Thank you to all who volunteered their homes and help to us and we will keep you posted as it unfolds. As of right now, we’re not sure what is going to happen as the Bow river is still rising fast and not decreasing yet.
