Peterborough May 1853: Robert Romaine began publication of the “Peterborough Review” as a weekly newspaper. Three years later it passed to Thomas and Richard White who were his brothers in law. Romaine took back the paper when Richard White took up publication of the Hamilton Spectator. Romaine continued the Review for 15 years before he sold to Toker & Company. The Peterborough Review succumbed to the post WWI recession and stopped publishing as a newspaper but continued doing job printing. Maxwell Review acquired the business and published the Weekly Review from the 1930s until 1979. TVA has acquired microfilm from various periods of the Peterborough Review.
