Petey is a four year old Cattle Dog/ Border Collie mix and weighs about 70 pounds. Petey has been at our shelter a few months and is starting to become depressed. He has started to hide in his dog house when someone new comes to see him and only wants to come out when it’s someone he knows. He’s become nervous when he now meets strangers but will warm up to them when given the chance. Once he is out of his kennel he is a very happy dog and loves to go for walks. He will sit on your lap (even though he’s clearly not a lap sized dog). Even when walking he will quickly turn around just in case someone would like to pet him. We are hoping to find him a forever home or even a foster home. We would like to see him out of the kennel where he is much happier. We do not want this behavior to become worse where he does not want to come out to see people at all. So if you have room to foster, or would like to adopt Petey please let us know. Petey is very good while loose-leash walking. He loves going for walks and is very interested in everything. He loves playing with toys and likes to fetch. Petey knows how to sit, down, and front and is very easy to train because he’s very attentive. He likes attention and loves to be pet. He is very easy to groom and will stand perfectly still until you are finished.
