Petron Blaze rookie June Mar Fajardo played one of the finest - TopicsExpress

Petron Blaze rookie June Mar Fajardo played one of the finest games of his career on Thursday, making all but one of his 10 attempts from the field to help his team defeat Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and book a seat in the final four of the Governors’ Cup. The 6-foot-10 slotman finished with 20 points and eight rebounds, dominating on offense despite the presence of hulking Ginebra import Dior Lowhorn. But despite his string of big games, Fajardo is focused on only one trophy: the Governors’ Cup and not the Rookie of the Year award. “Hindi ko iniisip yun (Rookie of the Year). Ang iniisip ko kung paano kami mag-champion,” Fajardo told InterAKTV. “Mas maganda kung champion kami para happy lahat.” Fajardo spent three months prior to the start of the tournament with the Gilas Pilipinas national team, but credits the bulk of his improved play to training sessions under Petron veteran center Danny Ildefonso. “Nakatulong sa akin yung extra practice namin ni DI after ng ensayo namin,” added Fajardo. With top-seeded Petron looking mighty having won it’s last nine games, Fajardo is optimistic about his squad’s outlook. “Tingin ko malaki ang tsansa,” he said. hotshot
