Philadelphia Eagles Questions 1. Nick Foles was the Fantasy - TopicsExpress

Philadelphia Eagles Questions 1. Nick Foles was the Fantasy Football Darling last season throwing 27 touchdowns and only 2 interceptions! Im still not quite sold on him. Teams now have a full year of tape on him and Chip Kellys offense as a whole so we will see how good Foles is this season. He has a relatively unproven group of wideouts now that DeSean Jackson has departed. I wonder how that will affect the passing game? Jeremy Maclin comes back, but he has not played a game in close to two years. There is work to do for the Eagles pass game. 2. Despite the Eagles going 11-5 last season, this team was not good defensively. 31st in the league in yards allowed, 29th against the pass, 24th in the NFL in third-down percentage allowed and lower-half in the league in points allowed are not good statistics to have. Improvement is needed! The front seven is not bad, but they lack speed to cover. The secondary was abysmal, hopefully Malcolm Jenkins can make that unit better. In an NFC East where Romo, RGIII, and Eli are around this defense will have their hands full. 3. No more DeSean, what does this mean? It means someone has to step up. They have good tight ends in Brent Celek and Zach Ertz (look for them to be used more). The receiving corps is okay, I dont know if I believe in Maclin and Riley Cooper, and Jordan Matthews is a rookie. If there is a coach who can maximize talent, its Chip Kelly but it will take time. Fantasy Outlook 1. I have a feeling LeSean McCoy might see a decrease in touches (especially in the passing game) now that Darren Sproles is in the backfield, but I would not shy away from picking him high. 2. Jordan Matthews is a real sleeper in my opinion, I believe he is has the best hands of all the receivers and he is a good route runner. I see him having a solid rookie campaign. Sixty catches is not out of the question. 3. Zach Ertz is a guy who can emerge as well in this offense. Twenty-two of his 36 catches came in the second half of last season. He was being targeted more by Foles. Possible late-round steal. Predictions 1. Nick Foles will throw 15 interceptions this season. 2. The defense will struggle against division opponents. 3. The schedule is favorable with the AFC South, but I think they will have problems with their own division. I think Philly will take a step back this year and not make the playoffs.
