KJV Onlyism is a doctrine of demons, to put it briefly.” (End of comments by our bible agnostic) Obviously this man has gone a long ways (in the wrong direction) since he used to allegedly believe in an inerrant Bible. Now he is filled with ignorance (saying that all the KJB translators were unregenerate, ungodly and demonic), hatred, foolishness and pride and he has NO infallible Bible in any language to believe in himself or to recommend to anyone else. Let’s take a look at his criticism of Philippians 3:21 where the KJB (and many others as we shall soon see) says referring to our Lord Jesus Christ “Who shall change our VILE body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.” It should be pointed out that the body as God originally created it was not vile. It was a perfect human body. But the bodies of men have become defiled by the Fall of man and the entrance of sin into the world. Our bodies are now subject to disease, decay and death. Many of our present bodily functions are unclean and even disgusting. Just think for a couple of minutes about some of the bodily functions we now have and what our bodies do when they become sick. I think our resurrected bodies will be quite different in many ways. The particular Greek word used here is #5014 tapinosis. It is translated as “low estate” - “he hath regarded the LOW ESTATE of his handmaiden” (Luke 1:48). “humiliation” in Acts 8:33 when describing how sinful men treated our Lord when they crucified him. “He was led as a sheep to the slaughter…in his HUMILIATION his judgment was taken away”. Please notice that it was sinful man that “humiliated” the Lord Jesus, not God. God does not humiliate people. He HUMBLES them, but He does not humiliate. The word is use the third time here in Philippians 3:21 where Christ will change our VILE body that it may become a glorious one like He now has. And the 4th time the word is used is in James 1:10 where it tells us that the rich should rejoice “in that he is MADE LOW.” What does the English word “vile” mean? As with virtually all words, whether English, Greek or Hebrew, it has several shades of meaning. Some of the meanings of the English word vile are “lowly, mean, degrading, of poor quality and even sinful. And what do the Greek lexicons tell us this word means? Well, very much the same things. I have a hard copy of Liddell and Scotts Greek-English Lexicon, 17th edition 1887. On page 691 they tell us the word means “lowly, mean, abject, base, VILE. And in a good sense it means humble or lowliness. This present body we now live in has been affected by the ravages of sin. It is subject to disease, decay and death. In comparison to the glorious, resurrected new body we will someday have, it can rightly be considered to be “vile” by comparison. Not only does the King James Bible refer to “our VILE body” here in Philippians 3:21, but so too do the following Bible translations - Tyndale 1525 - “which shall chaunge oure vile bodies that they maye be fassioned lyke vnto his glorious body”, Coverdale 1535, the Great Bible 1540, Matthew’s Bible 1549, the Bishops’ Bible 1568 - “Who shall chaunge our vyle body”, the Geneva Bible 1587 - “Who shall change our vile bodie”, Daniel Mace N.T. 1729, Whiston’s N.T. 1745, John Wesley’s translation 1755 - “will transform our vile body”, Worsley Version 1770, Webster’s translation 1833, KJV 21st Century Version 1994, Third Millennium Bible 1996 and the English Jubilee Bible of 2010 - “will change our VILE body”. Some foreign language Bibles use the same word “VILE” to describe our present sin damaged bodies. The Spanish Cipriano de Valera 1602 and Reina Valera Gómez of 2010 say: “el dual transformará nuestro cuerpo VIL, para que sea semejante a su cuerpo glorioso”, The French Martin 1744 - “Qui transformera notre corps VIL, afin quil soit rendu conforme à son corps glorieux”, and the Italian Diodati 1649 - “Il quale trasformerà il nostro corpo VILE, acciocchè sia reso conforme al suo corpo glorioso”. Other translations J.B. Phillips N.T. in Modern English 1962 - “He will re-make THESE WRETCHED BODIES OF OURS to resemble his own glorious body” Goodspeed 1923, Bible in Basic English 1961 - “our POOR body”. Douay-Rheims - “Who will reform the body of our LOWNESS” Montgomery N.T. - “the body of our ABASEMENT” RSV, NIV, ESV, NKJV, New Heart English Bible - “our LOWLY BODIES” International Standard Version - “He will change our UNASSUMING bodies” Revised Version 1881 - “body of our HUMILIATION”. God does not humiliate us. Wicked men humiliate others, but not God. God humbles us. This is not a good translation. NASB - “will transform the body of our HUMBLE STATE” Some Bible Commentators Matthew Henry - “May we be always prepared for the coming of our Judge; looking to have our VILE bodies changed by his Almighty power, and applying to him daily to new-create our souls unto holiness” John Gill - “Who shall change our VILE body - Which is defiled with sin, attended with frailty, and is mortal; and being dead, is sown and laid in the grave in corruption, weakness, and dishonour…now this VILE body, in the resurrection morn, shall be stripped of all its VILENESS, baseness, and meanness; and be changed, not as to its substance, nor as to its form and figure, which shall always remain same, as did the substance and form of our Lords body after his resurrection; but as to its qualities, it shall be changed from corruption to incorruption, 1 Corinthians 15:42, from mortality to immortality, from weakness to power, from dishonour to glory, and be free from all sin.” The King James Bible is ALWAYS right, and the Bible agnostics, self appointed Bible critics, Bible Rummagers and all unbelievers in the existence of a real, hold it in your hands, read and believe every word infallible Bible in ANY language just cant stand it.
