Photo: VNA A photo exhibition displaying images of the traditional, friendly relationship between Vietnam and Cuba has been organised by the Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba at the Asian House Museum on August 27, to commemorate both the 69th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2). Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba, Duong Minh, said that the exhibition helped Cuban people understand more clearly the history of Vietnam’s struggle to achieve the independence and the subsequent process of rebuilding, development and innovation that requires determination and desire for achievement. The exhibition provided the local people with a strong sense of unity with the Vietnamese and a greater understanding of the strength in the friendship between the two countries, especially when seeing the photos of President Fidel Castro’s first visit to Vietnam in September 1973 after traversing the 17th parallel to go to the newly-liberated land of Quang Tri to encourage Vietnamese soldiers’ spirit in their fight. Ambassador, Duong Minh, affirmed the solidarity of the Party, Government and Vietnamese people was for Cuba and believed that the socio-economic model the Party, Government and people of Cuba have embarked upon would achieve their expected goals , to the benefit of the people and the country. Former Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam, Aise Sotolongo, highlighted the resilient tradition of the Vietnamese people since the success of the August Revolution in 1945, whenPresident Ho Chi Minh, opened up a new era in the history of Vietnam with the establishment of an independent, socialist state. Mr. Sotolongo stressed that the exhibition not only helped the Cuban people once again recall the period of heroic struggle against foreign invaders, but also admire Vietnam’s important achievements during the construction and development of the country./.
