Photo on Left: Mandible (jaw), note the inclination of the molar arcades and that the cutting edge is inside or lingual. Photo on Right: Maxilla (skull), note the inclination of the molar arcades and that the cutting edge is on the outside or buccal. Since it is not in a horses nature to chew up and down like we humans but side to side; these cutting edges are VERY IMPORTANT!! If your vet or equine dentist is removing these edges and taking away that inclination then they are by no means helping your horse. In FACT they are hindering your horse! Do your horse a favor and find a Natural Balance Dentist in your area and make sure that they are holding a Certification/ID Card that hasnt expired. Our students/practitioners have mandatory continuing education requirements as we are constantly researching and discovering new ways to help horses through dentistry.
