Piaget unveils its latest collection, A Mythical Journey by Piaget in India Inspired by the most famous and the most beautiful journeys between the Silk Route and the Spice Route Reinforcing itself as a leader in the segment of Arts - Piaget revealed A Mythical Journey by Piaget, a collection of art and excellence in the capital today, at On The Waterfront, The Lodhi Hotel. The captivating collection draws us into a marvelous and epic voyage between Asia and India, transcended by the passion, the devotion, the talent, the creativity, the expertise and at times the sheer folly of the watchmakers, jewellery, artists and craftsmen. Stemming from their collaborative endeavors, A Mythical Journey by Piaget sweeps us into a world of artistry and powerful emotions. It represents a world of the colours, nature, the historic architecture, fauna and flora highlighted by some specific animals; Asian pagodas, Plum blossom, Ferghana horses, Cranes- from the exciting roads of Chang’an and the Indian palaces, Elephants and Peacocks from shimmering India. The collection consists of thirty-two watch models on which micromosaic, embroidery, bullino engraving, and enamel rub elbows along with sixteen pieces of jewellery created from exceptional stones including emerald and sapphire spheres, facetted sapphires and emeralds, and facetted pink sapphires set in pink gold. Moving from China to India, Piaget offers its interpretation of the famous Lake Palace, on Lake Pichola in Udaipur using an unusual combination of gold leaf and champlevé enamel on the dial. An elephant adorns a Piaget Polo Tourbillon Relatif, Piaget Emperador, and Piaget Altiplano using the “Bullino” engraving technique developed by Italian engravers, which creates fine lines that can only be made under a microscope. A variation of the cloisonné enamel technique, plique-à-jour enameling, was used to create a stunning peacock with bejeweled green feathers and an indigo blue breast that decorates the Piaget Altiplano Double Jeu. Each watch is an invitation to dream while firmly establishing Piaget’s art and excellence capabilities. A stylish logo inspired by old maps and compass will be present on all of the watches from the collection. Fine craftsmanship and creativity are in the Piaget genes. They are expressed without limitations, sometimes through experimentation with techniques not often used in jewellery or watchmaking, and through innovations that are ahead of the fashion curve. In its Manufacture just outside Geneva, about forty watchmaking and jewellery crafts supplement the movement-manufacturing activity at La Côte-aux-Fées. The designers’ imagination is translated into masterpieces thanks to resident expertise in the age-old arts of engraving, guillochage, gem-setting, and marquetry done in precious stones. The master craftsmen reveal the motions that have been handed down from time immemorial, with the modesty of those who make excellence a daily practice.
