“Picturesque slice of mountain and sea” 4 of 5 stars TripAdvisor Reviewed yesterday NEW We stayed at Monkey Valley over Easter 2014 with our 2 small kids and they just loved it. The resort is artfully built against the mountain and looks out over Noordhoek beach, stunning beach views actually, while providing a private gate to the beach itself. We went everyday and despite the cold water (Cape waters are always cold , dont complain, for warm water try Durban... ) it was still lovely on the beach. While we found the walk to the beach down the hillside and back steep in places, it is manageable, even my 3 year old. The resort takes great pains to maintain all facilities and units and given that they are literally built on the mountainside the maintenance must be onerous, there was someone painting, chopping or fixing around the clock, and the attitude of all staff was really welcoming. Meals at Thorfynns were fabulous, great service and in the evenings a fireside view of the mountain. Self -catering chalets were sold out, but I felt that the rack rate was reasonable for the double family room we had, including breakfast, The Claw footed baths are lovely and even we could lie full length in the bath, a rarity for tall people ! The breakfasts were lovely and the dining areas look right onto the sea view. Check in and out was quick and friendly and you get the sense that the staff are very engaged and happy to be there
