Pink Flannel Flower (Actinotus forsythii) is rarely seen in the wild, as it doesn’t seem to flower every year, and may only germinate after fire followed by suitable rain, then not appear again for many years. This may explain why there are only 4 records for it in the Lithgow LGA - the first in 1903, the last over 20 years ago in 1992. We found this plant on Newnes Plateau in an area burnt by the State Mine Fire. It has also been recorded in Wolgan State Forest – the most northerly and westerly record for this species in NSW. The delicate soft white and pink flowers are smaller than the common Flannel Flower (A. helianthi) but larger than the Lesser Flannel Flower (A. minor) :)
