Pinning it on the underlings won’t work this time…The IRS targeting of conservative groups was at first called an isolated mistake by two rogue agents in Cincinnati. But that claim won’t stand up to an audit. IRS Commissioner Steven Miller admitted the problem goes beyond those two. In fact, a source told the Cincinnati Fox affiliate that it was four workers, and they were simply doing what their bosses told them to. Britain’s Daily Mail obtained copies of intrusive IRS letters to conservative groups with letterheads from Washington, DC, and two California cities. And the number of applicants targeted has reportedly swollen from 75 to nearly 500. Miller abruptly resigned Wednesday, but one human sacrifice isn’t likely to quiet the volcanic outrage. He was just the acting commissioner, although he wasn’t acting much like one, and he was leaving next month anyway. Meanwhile, President Obama is reduced to reassuring Americans that he is both angry about the IRS abuse and completely ignorant of it. Furious cluelessness is not the most reassuring trait in America’s chief executive. For more of the Huckabee Report visit MikeHuckabee.
