Pittsburgh area Duchenne families: If you havent heard of or met Ryan & Ty Ballou, please read this Pittsburgh Post Gazette article released early this morning & know that we & our entire DMD community owe them an abundance of gratitude. In my opinion, they are the early Pittsburgh Duchenne pioneer family & have been an integral part of raising awareness & funds for research. I know many of you were connected with Ty & Ryan thru the Pittsburgh MDA which is how I met Ty in 2005 at Kings Restaurant on Rt. 60 shortly after Billys diagnosis. We shed tears together but talked about hope. Its amazing through perseverance & genuine desire to make a difference that the Ballou family has been the inspiration for this potentially life saving intervention. Thanks again Ballou family!
