Pixies Happy Bags came about through my wanting to do something to help with the fight against cancer. Often, it is not until we are faced with a personal experience that we become fully aware of the scale and impact of chronic medical conditions. My intention was to try and raise £1000. To date I have raised more than £18,000 just through the sale of these little bags at £2 a-piece. However, I now need to bring the Pixie Empire to a close. This has been a long and very difficult decision and I have had considered help in reaching it. It is very time -consuming, at least 10 - 15 hours a week that I fit in around working and my other interests and commitments. But that is only part of the reason for my bringing it to a close I was diagnosed in January 2012 and had a long and tough pathway to get the all clear. As I came to the end of my treatment in July 2013, my husband, Mr Pixie had a major heart attack and was rushed into Papworth hospital for surgery. For us it is now time to put chronic illness behind us and restore our health, our finances and to really enjoy life. I still have professional ambitions and together we have personal goals. I am finding the Pixie Bag Empire is keeping me too anchored in cancer-world. Every week I get emails from people who have found my site and have their own cancer experience. They identify and reach out. I understand. I recognise my own desperation to find others when I was first diagnosed and at times when the journey seemed insurmountable. I respond to all the emails and do my best to be kind and empathetic. But this was never planned and I am not far enough away from my own cancer to be able to handle it. It takes me back to places I would rather not go and to places I would rather not imagine. So, with the love and support of my husband, my girlfriends and the professional advice from Sue, my cancer nurse, Pixies Happy Bags is going to stop operations with effect from 30 November 2014. At this time, I shall close down the website and this Facebook page. I will be forever grateful for the support I have been given in helping me raise so much money. So, this is your last chance to order. All orders received by 30 November will be fulfilled and sent in time for Christmas. You can place your final orders on my website pixieshappybags Smiles and blessings to you all. Pixie xx
