Places where a poet is easily distracted: I always wonder how they feel about cages, or about so many strange faces coming and going. I worry about what kind of home they will go to. And then I think...well, nature is pretty indifferent to survival, too. Isnt it odd to live in a world where in order to grow, we must divide (at a cellular level)? Or in order for one to have more, another must have less? Or that there is anything instead of everything? ...full of sound and fury, signifying nothing... I think Shakespeare was really on to something. I also think it is important to not get stuck there in the not-so-nice truth of the world around us. There is so much more. I think we have forgotten something quite impossible to forget. This is where I go when I look into an animals eyes. - Places where a poet is easily distracted.
