Planning my 60th bday...I think we are renting an inexpensive cabin at June Lake for two nights. I was born in Bishop, not far away from June Lake. My father, even before I was born, used to fish at June Lake. I have photos taken in the late forties and early fifties of him at that lake. Bishop is a few hours from where we live now. We plan on taking off early to have breakfast at Schatts bakery (which has been in Bishop for something like 80 years and is famous for its Sheepherder bread), loading up with food and bubbly, and spending two days at the lake, reading, hiking, drinking bubbly, exploring and relaxing. Going back to my birthplace for my 60th seems apropos. And, if we watch our spending between now and then, and cook our meals in the cabin, we can do this.
