**Please Share to Find Johnny a Home for the Holidays!** His adoption fee has been partly sponsored so until Saturday his fee is reduced to $125.00 or if he is adopted with his friend Toby (who is a kid friendly riding buckskin paint Shetland pony) his fee is $50.00. Johnny Dark Bay Pony Mule Gelding 36-37 inches tall. He is 3 to 4 yrs old (verified with the vet) Leads, loads, ties well. Johnny has been seen by the vet and the following done: Shots including EWT, Strangles, Rabies, and West Nile. Current Neg. Coggins Test Pulled, He also had his teeth checked and floated, Sheath Cleaned and beans removed, and was given an overall check up and clean bill of health. He is the cutest little pony mule and looks like a super cute pony with big ears. He is healthy and fat as they come! Everyone who sees him immediately goes awww because he is so cute! John was purchased like 99% of our rescues from auction. This means we dont know a lot about his history. The man who was paid to bring him to the sale stated that this pony mule had been ridden. We do not know as we have not tried and have been working on his other issues and have not attempted putting a saddle on him. John came to us and has adjusted well to his surroundings and loves the other horses, donkey, llama, chickens, ect. He tends to prefer the company of the animals to ours for the most part. He would be a great livestock guard for someones flock as he watches over the animals here with great care. He was much calmer at the sale and the following hours after we got him but as he has settled in his problems and fear issues have become more apparent. Not mean, not Nasty, but he is very untrusting of what people have planned for him. He has gotten to where we can easily catch him (which is major progress), but is still fearful of peoples hands on him. He will tremble and shake at contact. He does turn and face and express all the signs of thinking and wanting to learn including licking and chewing and when worked in the round pen turns and faces along with turning his honchos away from people. He has a flight response to pressure and will run away if he gets frightened of the pressure is to much. This is not nasty or ugly behavior but rather scared and fearful. This is something that we want the adopter to be aware of as this could cause a lead rope to be jerked from hand. This is why we think at this time he would be best for someone who knows about horses and mules or someone who is wanting to rehome him as a livestock guard. We would love to find him a home for the holidays as the longer he stays here the longer another horse that needs a home will be put off being able to come to the facility. John is located at the rescue facility in Calera Al 35040.
