Please Tag & Share NSW Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds and heavy rain for people in the Metropolitan and Hunter forecast districts Issued at 12:08 pm EDT on Sunday 17 November 2013. HEAVY RAIN AND GALE FORCE WINDS FOR PARTS OF THE NSW COAST Weather Situation A low pressure system off the Hunter Coast is expected to deepen and draw closer to land later this afternoon and evening. It is expected to reach peak intensity during Monday morning before moving away to the northeast. Damaging winds around 60 km/h with peak gusts of 90 km/h are likely to develop along the coastal fringe in the Sydney Metropolitan and Hunter forecast districts (including the Central Coast) during Monday morning. Heavy rain which may lead to flash flooding is also likely in these areas. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: Move vehicles under cover or away from trees. Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. Keep clear of fallen power lines. Dont drive, ride or walk through flood water. Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue. For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 132 500. The next warning will be issued by 5:00 pm EDT Sunday.
