Please excuse my rant but.............. If I Dont vent I am going to explode. I was having an amazingly good day, when all of a sudden I am in horrible pain in my lower left side. I know what it is a Diverticulitis attack. (pouches in the large intestine, sigmoid colon, have become infected)A Dr. had once compared the pain to the same pain as an appendicitis attack! I know I need to go to er. So off we go. I go to the one I always go to with this, as this is the fourth time in a year that this has happened to me. That er is so full the nurse even suggested that maybe I should go to a different hospital to be seen sooner. OK no problem. I go to a different hospital. It hurts to move, sit, walk, etc. I have to go to the lab for bloodwork. I have to walk the entire length of the hospital to the elevators then go up to the proper floor, and walk the entire length of the hospital AGAIN to get to the lab! Did I mention it hurts to friggin walk? So after blood work have to do the walk again! I see a Dr and she confirms what I already know. Now all I need is my antibiotics and pain killers (usually percocet) and I can go home. The hospital I usually go to usually makes me stay in a bed there for a good 5 or 6 hours to get iv antibiotics in me and shoots me up full of morphine for the pain and to keep an eye on me. This dr I saw tonight gives me my perscritption for antibiotics and 2 thats right 2 percocet pills for tonight. Are you friggin kidding me? And because the pain came on so suddenly I should have had a scan to make sure nothing is ruptured! What a sad sad state our medical system is in! ~ Sheryl
