Please, please read this carefully. This is a proposal affecting Arlington ISD. They are not being forthright with this information and pulling it together to post it has been difficult. I will send attachment, but heres an overview as I see it: Early voting is April 28 - May 6 Voting Day is May 10 $663,130,000 total proposal Lines will be redrawn for Wood and Mary Moore Corey and Roquemore will be repurposed to become dual language/fine arts academies. Teachers will be required to speak two languages in these two places and if I read it right, (and it is unclear,) it will take place in the fall of 2014. Teachers will lose their jobs there? What is being built is a career and technical center, a fine arts center (@$32,000,000,) and athletics complex for swimming, gymnastics and wrestling (@ $25,000,000,)a multi-purpose activity center for athletics and fine arts at each school (@60,000,000,)and renovations of many existing places. There will also be a district wide agricultural science facility and two new elementaries. These purchases equipment, safety, security and technological upgrades. Also $18,279,213 will be spent replacing and adding new busses and other vehicles. AISDs current debt is $445,000,000. When the new proposal is added in, the debt will be $1,000,108,000. Tax payers will pay for this. Our homes will be reappraised to increase the value of each, thus increasing the property taxes. I believe youll read about teacher pay raises to the tune of $2.8 million. THIS HAS ALREADY BEEN PASSED AND IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS $663.1 million PROPOSAL. Please note that this is an ALL OR NOTHING vote. What you like nad what you like will not be voted on separately. I just want everyone to be aware of this. - Please vote!
