Please read and share with everyone on Face Book! My Opponent posted today that I did not have Leadership Experience outside of my occupation and that I would have a biased leadership with the risk of a conflict-of-interest. I would be required to read aloud the commissions conflict-of-interest statement when voting on areas that concern my employment with the Sheriffs Office. Well first of all, he has just slapped every career officer in every branch of the military, Supervisor with Law Enforcement, Fire Department and Ambulance Service in the face. Then, every commissioner that is in office now or in the past for having to read the conflict-of-interest statement. I believe these commissioners voted for their hearts and for the right reason and serve our county well. We see how this man feels about all of you. I want to share my leadership skills; I have worked my way up from the bottom to the rank of Captain. During this time, I was on our SWAT Team since it was originated in 1992 - 1999 and then I was the Commander of the team from 1999 - 2010. I had the responsibility of the teams lives and the lives of the suspect/victim in my hands on countless tactical situations. Try making a decision that could determine the life or death of another individual and then commanding others to go forth. Those are decisions to live by !! I have run command after several tornadoes that hit our county; I was responsible for all the men, women, children that we were trying to locate along with all the emergency personnel. I am the Rutherford County Homeland Security Law Enforcement Chairperson. Now for my leadership away from employment. NO, I have no political leadership, but I have been the F.O.P. Sergeant of Arms for almost a year and I was recently honored when asked about serving on a local Board of Directors that is near and dear to my heart. These are Facts: When I first announced that I was running for Commissioner; I was told by people that they knew who I was running against, he was a good man and he will be hard to beat. I am sorry I havent seen what you have seen since he has been running for office. No one is hard to beat if you work hard and be honest. I have been myself through my entire campaign, what you see is me. I am no different around you than I am while I am around my family. I have told everyone that I have met or talked to what I was about. Fire Protection, smarter planning and having meeting in the communities to give you a say so back in your community. Right after my campaign, a dear friend and co-worker came to me and asked me to help with a fund raiser for a Brother of ours that was battling cancer. We held this event with the help with several friends/co-workers from work and so many volunteers from the community. The only thing I asked was that politicians leave politics at the door. I even had signs made stating NO Politics - This Is Dannys Day. This man that you told me was a good guy, came to our turkey shoot strolling up with a campaign button on, talking to people about signs and other campaign matters. He didnt know at the time, my sister was standing right beside him. This mans family was a victim of cancer and is willing to donate his pay back to the community; he didnt even offer a donation for the cause. Folks he is trying to buy your votes with his stunts. I think he is a little nervous. Why else would he wait to tell you he would donate his pay back to the community if he was elected over half way through his campaign. Another, he brags about his involvement with the Broadband Internet, well I went to the webinar earlier this week in reference to the broadband. We are not even qualified for this service through the company. Again poor planning!!! I agree we need broadband internet for our rural areas. But we have a Bigger Problem in our County and its Communications for our Emergency Personal. We have been dealing with this problem for several years. Yes we were awarded grants and the county has put money toward this project. We still have no good communications. Is it going to take someone to lose their life before they get it up and running?? I think this project should be complete before we work on broadband internet. District 8 if you vote for this man, we will have to live with it for the next four years. The last two weeks I have taken vacation and spent some fun days waving at all the folks on the square. I am glad it was enjoyable and relaxing because my opponent has spent his 10 to 15 minutes a day on the square telling the other candidates I am wasting my time, that he has this won. Im sorry sir, I am still in the race until the end. I ask you to again research all three candidates and vote for the right man. Call anyone you know and ask them about me, I am sure you can find someone. I promise you I am a man of my word, I have already proven to you I am dedicated by being your public servant the past 27 years and I want to give you ownership back in your community, not let me prove it and if I dont, you know where I live.
