Please read this and repost if you feel as strongly about this as I do. Its come to my attention that there will be an article in circulation really soon that is plainly a smear campaign. Patrick Marquez is running for election to the school board of the West Las Vegas school system and he (along with his family) is being targeted in a form of dirty politics. I dont know why anyone would question this mans character. Here is one brilliant fact: he spearheaded finding funding for the Valley Elementary/ Jr. High in El Valle NM. He had the guts to help find funding to renovate the aging school when nobody else would. As a former resident of El Valle and alumni of the Valley school (West Las Vegas school district) system I commend Mr. Marquez on his actions at a time when no acting member of the board stepped up to the plate. Why play dirty and try to smear this man and his family? Ill tell you why: because of fear. Fear is a common factor behind cowardly actions in most cases. Our children are our future. Lets give our children the chance at a future. Why try to stop progress before it begins? Listen people: so hes not perfect, so his family is not perfect, so what? The people behind this coming article are far from perfect as well ( you know who you are: look in the mirror). Skeletons in the closet? So what? We all have them. This is no reason to be low down, dirty, yellow belly, snakes in the grass. Im irate about this whole thing and I hope this kicks in a movement in a positive direction. Those of you who know Patrick and his family will know that they will give you the shirts off their backs if you ask them. This is a rarity in todays world. I for one back the him and would appreciate it if you did too. We all have the ability to foster change in this world of ours. Heres your chance to make a difference. Elect Patrick Marquez to the West Las Vegas school board and give our children the chance they deserve. Its chances that can become reality if the give them the opportunity.
