Please read this, dont just see Ice bucket challenge, gotcha, seen that a million times already. Theres a message here that Id like to share. Thank you for nominating me, Gedaliah Werblowsky, Amishar Frutkoff and Alexandra Benjamin. As I was offline all weekend due to extenuating circumstances (pm if youre interested!), I am ok with the 24 hours starting when I got the notifications, ie last night. So you all know the drill, ice bucket and finding a cure for ALS. I have had two problems with the ice bucket challenge since it became viral, and the expected nominations came; one easy to solve and one not so easy. The easy one: the waste of water. To solve this, my ice bucket is under my lemon tree to water it. The more difficult one is that while finding a cure for ALS is an amazing tzedakah (charity) cause, and far be it from me to take anything away from the worthiness of it, it seems to me that its possible that if people give to that, they are less likely to give to other equally worthy causes; kinda like the feeling that Ive given already, so leave me alone. We all know that the first beggar gets more attention/charity than the 33rd. I know Im like that and have to fight that feeling every time at the Kotel, for example, that giving to one cause does not absolve you from giving for another. Does this make sense? Do people give less to other causes now that theyve given to ALS? I wonder if there is a study on this - have other charities suffered in proportion to ALS gaining? Anyway, so my personal challenge to you all: dont let your donation come at the expense of other worthy causes; give to ALS in addition to your normal tzedakah! This clip is therefore in two parts: giving tzedakah, and more importantly teaching my boys to give (as well as my donation, I matched whatever they gave of their own money, to other worthy causes) - and the mandatory ice bucket, which, to be honest, is a treat on such a hot august day, and gives a welcome activity trying to plan entertainment for bored boys... Nominations? I hereby nominate from the three most important walks of my life: Family: Avi Naider; Work/guiding: Moshe Gold IDF/miluim: Timofey Nikolaevich Kiseliov 24 hours...
