Please share if you like. Bald Eagles will almost always pick a high spot to perch on. The tallest tree, towers, cliffs etc. With incredible eye site that can read newsprint at 100 meters, it makes sense to get up high, improve the view, and be safe. The Aleutian Islands have no trees, as in none, no bushes, just endless tall grass and snow covered hillsides. The cliffs are the only big perch that occurs naturally for them. Fishing boats, cranes, two story buildings, can give them a pretty high perch, and in these images, the Eagles are about 50 feet above the camera lens, and about 70 feet off the water. I can always tell, when I am inside the wheelhouse, if there is an eagle in my rigging. We have satellite domes and antenna in the mast rigging, as high as we can get them to improve reception.. and if there is an Eagle on top of one, my electronic alarms start beeping in the wheelhouse. I will be tied up, doing something inside, and beep, beep...I grab the camera and step out to see this.....:-) #JackMolanPhotography
