Please share where relevant... Boing! is a community-based soft play multi-activity centre for families with children aged 0-5yrs. It is based in Lockleaze, Bristol, which is in the top 30% of national deprivation. We run open access sessions 4 days a week offering an affordable and attractive facility for families, aiming to promote community interaction in the near and surrounding area. As part of its core delivery, Boing! also promotes healthy eating through its café area where customers can relax and choose from a healthy and varied menu. Boing! offers support from on site family support workers and other agencies, and various groups such as Stay and Play, Breastfeeding Support, advice and guidance, and more. Run by Stoke Park Schools, Boing! has strong partnerships with other community projects and churches, and in 2014 will move into a brand new building complex together with the Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust. Boing! is looking to continue supporting the community, and is in need of an operations manager to run this much-loved community centre. Main Responsibilities The manager shall: * create menus for Boing! and displays for community services and events * maintain and keep clean/tidy all play and snack areas * prepare and shop for a regular, varied menu * prepare food from the menu to a high standard * work to an agreed budget and targets * handle money in line with Stoke Park Schools’ financial management processes * provide training and supervising lead to voluntary staff * ensure good practice in line with requirements of the Food Safety Act * ensure good practice in line with Health and Safety at Work requirements * be willing to take on other tasks which may arise that are relevant to the post * take part in the running, booking and organisation of parties and groups Normal working hours: 16 hours over 4 days per week. The salary will be £7.60 an hour (£14,622 pro rata). * Some weekend and evening work may be required, but plenty of notice for this will be given and discussed prior to agreement. * This is a contract until 31st March 2014. Employment may be continued after, dependent on funding. * 24 days annual leave per year (pro rata) exclusive of Bank Holidays, (some annual leave must be taken at Christmas and New Year when Boing! is closed) * Appointment will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a three-month probationary period, after which there is potential for a pay-rise dependent upon performance.
