Please sign this petition supporting the Wendat Nation in their fight for the environment against pipelines. There are statements for both members of the Huron-Wendat Nations as well as allies. https://secure.avaaz.org/fr/petition/Conseil_de_la_Nation_huronnewendat_CNHW_Pour_que_la_Nation_Wendat_soit_contre_les_pipelines_et_pour_lenvironnement/?nsitLib Petition Statement For members of the Huron-Wendat Nations: We, the undersigned members of the Huron-Wendat Nations, are opposed to the project Energy East pipeline TransCanada on Nionwentsïo in Quebec and the pipeline 9B line Enbridge on our land Wendake Grand in Ontario and want to that our representatives will fall on our side against these destructive projects of our land and our common heritage. At the same time, we ask our elected officials to opt for a sustainable development plan, based on renewable energy and non-threatening to the environment and our lands. Petition Statement for our allies: We the undersigned endorse members of the Huron-Wendat Nations who are taking a stand against the Energy East Pipeline project by TransCanada on Nionwentsïo in Quebec and the pipeline Line 9B Enbridge on land in the Great Wendake Ontario and ask that their representatives will side with them against these destructive projects. At the same time, we ask their elected officials to support a sustainable development plan, based on renewable energy and non-threatening to the environment. For some time now, the construction of two pipelines to transport Alberta tar sands has caused major concerns within Canada and Quebec, as well as among the members of the Huron-Wendat nation since they could cross our lands Nionwentsïo of Quebec and those of the great Wendake Ontario. Sustainable development and renewable energy Without wishing to impede progress, we ask the institutions of our great Nation to be in solidarity with all other First Nations who oppose these projects threatening the environment and our collective heritage and opt instead for forms of sustainable development that are advancing to renewables (eg, solar, wind, biodiesel from algae or agricultural and forestry residues, etc.). These are more in harmony with our philosophy, our values and traditions, in addition to helping fight against the greenhouse effect and the production of CO 2. Moreover, their operation would be more job-creating than the oil sector which provides only temporary and precarious jobs. As proud bearing and proud carriers of the Huron-Wendat tradition, we must unite to protect our ancestral territories and all that follows (fauna and flora, ossuaries, archaeological sites and ancient villages Wendat, cultural heritage, etc) for which our ancestors and our current Grand Chief have worked so hard to defend in the past, and this for the survival of our children, our grandchildren and the Seven generations to come. Finally, and for all these reasons, we decided to speak out against such projects on our traditional territories and call on the whole of the Huron-Wendat Nation and their allies to oppose any pipelines that might want to settle there. As a reflection, we leave you with these wise words of Chief Tatanka Yotanka (Sitting Bull) When the last tree has been cut, When the last river has been polluted, When the last fish has been caught, Only then you will understand that money can not be eaten https://secure.avaaz.org/fr/petition/Conseil_de_la_Nation_huronnewendat_CNHW_Pour_que_la_Nation_Wendat_soit_contre_les_pipelines_et_pour_lenvironnement/?nsitLib ****Thanks to the people of «Dam Line 9» for the translation in english.
