I didnt mention this in the video because I wasnt prepared to do this today or talk about it, but I once worked with a woman who was diagnosed with ALS. I still remember her name because I wont forget how truly devastating it was to her, both physically and emotionally. In addition, the isolation it causes is profound - not only is it extremely rare, but before this campaign youd be surprised how little people knew about it or what it was. Thankfully, this movement seems to be making leaps and bounds in awareness. So this is for her, and for all of those who have suffered or are suffering from this terrible disease. You are braver than I, and I would never be able to go through or understand what you go through. For those who may not know at this point: ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) is a neurodegenerative disease that causes degeneration of motor neurons, leading to the eventual atrophy of muscles and the loss of motor function. There is no cure, and there is no way to reverse the disease. Most people with this disease eventually die of respiratory failure or pneumonia.
