*Please take a few minutes to read through this :) This time of year the #1 question that we receive in the national office is when should I apply for national membership? We have designed our membership options to be flexible. We allow students to join at different times and at different price points to ensure that they get the most for their money. When a student asks you this question heres what you should tell them call the Action Center, 800-498-2071, Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm EST. An Action Center Specialist will discuss your options with you and advise you. A second option is to say or you can email [email protected]. The national office will be able to advise you. However, if you are just curious and would like know how we advise a student...heres a guide: · If a student wants to register for the ASHA Convention we advise him/her to apply for national membership anytime after September 1st. · If a student is in the first year of a masters program we advise him/her to apply for national membership anytime after September 1st. · If a student is an undergraduate OR entering the 1st/2nd year of an AuD program AND will not attend an ASHA Convention we advise him/her to wait until January 1, 2015 and apply for Introductory Membership. If your students ask if I join now when will my membership end? Tell your students when a student joins anytime after September 1st they have national membership benefits until December 31, 2015. If your students ask how long before I can receive access to the ASHA journals or apply for the liability insurance? Tell your students Access to the ASHA journals and other national membership benefits begin as soon as the application is processed. An account number will be provided on the payment invoice when a student applies and pays online. The student can use that account number to register for membership benefits immediately. If you have additional questions about national membership or the benefits of national membership share them with the national office by replying to this post.
