Please take a minute out to read this letter. Thank you! Dear Reader, My name is Arpita and I am an open, loving, generous gypsy girl who loves to spread light and connections wherever she goes. Since my childhood, I have grown up in many cultures and lived many realities. I have experienced instances of inequality based on gender, ethnicity, caste, colour, size, class, knowingly and unknowingly on all ends of the spectrum, and often wondered why the beautiful diversity I experience so often is made so ugly with the judgments attached to its dimensions. I am told that there is an apparent struggle for resources that drives people towards unkind madness, but I find more often than not, that love is a solution beyond the borders that any bodily cravings can impose. I have full faith that the universe is deeply interconnected and full of abundant providence. I am writing to you now to tug on the strings that connect us, and ask for help in realising a dream. You see, there is a workshop – ‘Art and Social Change: Interplay for Millenial Leaders’ (interplay.org/index.cfm/go/events:event/happening_id/1429/returnEvent/byLocation/) happening in July 2014 in Oakland, California that I have been selected for and would love to attend. Towards the aim of understanding and living unconditional love, I believe the InterPlay workshop can really help me resolve and evolve physically, mentally and emotionally, and take my learnings forward to the different communities I engage with, from resource-deprived Adivasi tribal communities to emotionally distraught urban ones. While a major bulk of the expenses for it are taken care of, I need Rs. 100,000 towards travel and visa costs to and from my native India. So, why should you help me? You see, I’m living the dream of breaking my own limitations and unlocking seemingly impossible pathways. With learnings from Interplay, I will be so much better equipped to help you and your communities do the same, as well as so many others that are not able to access love, joy and pure acceptance.
