Please take a moment to read a short note from your budtenders regarding dispensary etiquette! I’ve worked in medical cannabis establishments on and off for several years and while we always try to maintain a chilled out atmosphere, there are a few things that you can do to make the most of your visit to a legal California medical cannabis collective: 1. Please be ready to show your government California issued ID and your original doctor’s recommendation to our staff for your first visit. California’s medical cannabis laws require that we see your original recommendation (with doctor’s seal and real signature) the very first time we see you. After that you are welcome to provide a copy of the original document, but you must have at least a copy of your recommendation if you plan on acquiring anything at all. 2. Take a seat, sit down, put your feet up. We need to verify the validity of your recommendation by phone or electronically. No need to lurk near the receptionist, she’ll call you as soon as she’s ready for you. 3. Think of us as a Pharmaceutical establishment. Don’t do anything here that you wouldn’t do at the Ralph’s Pharmacy. Ie. wear shoes and a shirt, leave pets at home and don’t open your pharmacy bag in the lobby to play show, tell and trade with other patients. 4. Most Dispensaries prefer that you stay off of your cell phone. We always want to assure the confidentiality of our patients. You’re only going to be spending a few minutes with us, take that time to tell us about your likes and dislikes and previous experiences with cannabis. 5. The more we know about you, the better we will be able to suggest specific strains for you personally. 6. Be aware of the patient flow around you. If the collective is slow and there’s nobody waiting, feel free to ask to see a handful of strains but if the dispensary is busy, please be conscious and respectful of your fellow patients’ time. 7. More and more often you’re going to find that your favorite collectives are starting to pre-weigh their flowers. A dispensary does this to minimize loss, keep donations low and to assure the cleanliness and freshness of their product. 8. In some of the best dispensaries the suggested donation price of a flower can be little indicator of it’s quality. Ask your Budtender what they take home at night... 9. Always ask before you touch any of the flowers. Often times dispensaries will ask you not to touch the bud in an attempt to assure the sanitary conditions of the product. 10. Allow other patients space to discuss confidential information with the Budtender. 11. Be nice! 12. Tips are never mandatory at a dispensary, not are they necessarily customary...but I can tell you with all certainty, they are HUGELY APPRECIATED. If you feel like your Budtender really helped you out and it’s in your budget, feel free to leave a couple of bucks:)
