Please this is a must read! Pastor Don Leavell with Christian Fellowship in his TV ads claims that MOST people think Halloween is about darkness, death, witches, and goblins. Then we give candy to children which is such a contradiction. He says Jesus is the light of the world and there is no darkness in him. I agree Jesus is the light of the world but Halloween has nothing to do about being anti-Christ, OR going against the word of God. Please let me correct you Mr. Don Leavell sir! Halloween means hallowed eve or the day before all souls day. Many years ago October 31 was the end of the year and people believed that loved ones that had passed on during the year would come came to visit before the new year. So the living would dress in scary clothing so as not to be scared by the dead folks returning. People used to believe that mean people after death would return as black cats. Jack of the Lantern was a mean old man that was not accepted into heaven or hell and so that is why on the eve of all souls day he comes with his lantern looking where to live his life in eternity. Most of these folktales and traditions come from the Irish. GO to Mexico today and on November 1st people still believe that their love ones will return en el dia de los muertos. (the day of the dead) Some people place food on the grave sites. Today we follow such traditions with candy. The Irish used to go to homes of wealthy farmers and say, Treat, feed us or will harm you! Thus came trick or treat! Don my friend there is nothing related to the devil or darkness in Halloween. It is only a celebration of the old calender. I could speak on the subject of Halloween for hours. Someday join me for a cup of coffee and I will explain to you how we got April Fools Day! Please DO NOT ruin such a happy and fun tradition to get people in your church. Keep up the good WORD and people will come to your place. Please share this message with others!
