Please voice your support for smart growth policies to the Portsmouth City Council by reading, signing and sharing this letter. The April 7th meeting is the last chance to retain the Conditional Use Permit, which allows the citys Historic District Commission and Boards of Adjustment to work with developers to create thoughtfully-developed buildings instead of having a hands-off flat-height-limit approach. This also may be the last chance of having the proposed downtown grocery store (Whole Foods) and event space building, which would be a real shame to lose in place of whatever else might go in that spot. But this issue goes far beyond a single project. Lets not make the same mistakes we made losing the Childrens Museum and Portsmouth Brewery projects to Dover and North Hampton. Please support thoughtful projects that will increase quality of life for Portsmouth residents, workers, and businesses.
