Poem by Farah Chamma Film by Daniel Malak English subtitles of Arabic poem Apologies Apologies Apologies, poem I did not want to write you Amidst this turmoil I did not want you To live in underground Tunnels Nor in this blockade We both trembled As I wrote you I wrote you with Blood and fire I wrote you with uranium And crude ink sold in dollars Apologies poem If your words were crowded In a strip Stripped off all metaphors Rhyming in bombs and fire alarms Apologies If you were left in the dark Asked to evacuate your home Apologies, If you were choked with justified Chemical gas Apologies, If silence was louder than shelling Apologies, poem I did not want you To be stoned by shame I did not want your Rhyme scheme To become a scheme Against your name To be sold as a slave In this carnal plight When in Babylon you were Aphrodite Apologies If they circumcised Your sides And murdered your Small letters Found silent in the arms Of words Apologies If they took down Your verses And crucified all your cs Leaving no place For victory Apologies, poem If they traded you For an imported poem For The Wealth of the Nations Isnt but for merchants And the invisible hand robs you of your ink Apologies, poem If soldiers lay Upon your lines If you were arrested Or folded, blind Proofreading here Is for the confined Apologies, If you are associated with A party you dont belong to A meter you do not follow Here, all poetry follows Their meters Apologies, poem I did not want to write you Amidst this turmoil I did not want to find You scattered Under this wall Apologies If they colored you In blue and white If they stole your title And stole your rights I dont have your copyright Apologies, poem Apologies. youtube/watch?v=jOjJ54yAGFQ
